Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE) is a leading Fisheries University having a distinguished heritage and has nurtured many illustrious scholars and leaders over the years. The Institute has been playing a pivotal role in the development of qualified and trained human resources incorporating various new dimensions into its academic curricula to suit the needs of the stakeholders. The major research focus of the institute broadly relates to diversification in aquaculture including the development of new strains, development of technologies in which salt-affected unproductive lands can be transformed into productive aqua farms, management of aquatic resources and biodiversity, climate change, post-harvest and value addition, newer aquafeed resources, increased emphasis on biotechnology and nanotechnology, fish vaccines and ecosystem and extension services.
