Executive Summary :

Objective: Design and synthesis of peptides incorporating non-coded amino acids derived from naturally occurring cationic antimicrobial protegrins; Design and synthesis of self-assembled ultrashort hybrid peptides containing [¬and y-amino acids; Structural characterization of peptides using Mass, NMR (1 D & 20), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), circular dichroism (CD) and X-ray crystallographic techniques; Identification new potent peptides by screening the designed protegrins derived peptides against Gram-negative bacterial strains; Investigation of structure-activity relationships of B-hairpin peptidomimetics; Evaluation of most potent peptides against antimicrobial resistance strains (AMRs).
