Executive Summary :

Cellular senescence in immune cells is crucial for the somatic aging process, leading to various clinical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and auto-immune disorders. Delaying the aging mechanism in immune cells can improve lifespan and healthspan. This project aims to understand the extent and depth of cellular senescence in dendritic cells and its modulation using natural immunomodulators, probiotics, and plant polyphenols as a synbiotic combination. The role of plant active ingredients in combination with pre or probiotics is still unknown. The project aims to develop safe and affordable alternative therapeutic strategies with anti-senescence attributes, focusing on understanding the underlying molecular mechanism involved in dendritic cells. Ex vivo and in vivo experimentation will be conducted to evaluate the efficacy of potential diet-based geroprotectors in disrupting cellular senescence in dendritic cells. The project aims to improve knowledge about dendritic cell cellular senescence and develop safe and affordable alternative mitigation strategies for immune response and aging.
