Executive Summary : | Lunglei located in Mizoram in North East India with its rich geological landforms and landscapes , the town and neighbouring areas have potential to attract tourist that will lead to a booming local economy among the local tribals. Therefore, to have a sustainable geotourism plan and management, it is imperative to have in depth geological and geotechnical details of Lunglei town and its surrounding region before any development or plan takes place. With the availability of geotechnical details about Lunglei town and its surrounding areas, this project proposes to foster geotourism by implementing geological knowledge and setting up of Geotechnical laboratory in the Department of Geology, Lunglei Govt College in Mizoram to study and identify the geological hazards, risks, threats that can pose danger to the public, developmental activities, policy makers and the overall geotourism management and plans to increase the local tribal economic activities. |
