Executive Summary :

The project aims to develop an efficient electrochemical energy storage supercapacitor using polymer nanocomposite films. With the increasing demand for portable and wearable electronics, there is a need for efficient green energy storage devices like supercapacitors. Researchers are focused on developing efficient electrode materials for better electrochemical performance. To contribute to this research, MXene nanoscrolls from MXene nanosheets will be fabricated as fillers for the fabrication of efficient electrode material. The idea originated from the fabrication of carbon nanoscrolls from graphene, which have similar structural behavior. The composite of MXene and carbon nanotubes has shown better electrochemical performance due to enhanced ion accessibility. However, no experimental work has been done yet. Green synthesis of carbon nanotubes from cyclic and layered structures like benzene and ferrocene has been reported in literature. The hexagonal layered structure of MXene could lead to successful fabrication of MXene nanoscrolls with minimal modifications in precursor. Another method could be charged injection, as the surface of MXene has negative functionalization. The successful fabrication of MXene nanoscrolls will lead to the fabrication of an efficient polymer nanocomposite film. The electrochemical performance of the polymer nanocomposite film will be studied in a 3-electrode system, and the working electrodes will be used for the fabrication of an efficient supercapacitor device. The successful fabrication of advanced MXene nanoscrolls will not only enhance electrochemical performance but also diversify its application in other sectors like EMI shielding and photovoltaics.
