Executive Summary : | Plasmodium falciparum, which causes malaria, is still a serious threat to world health, and drug resistance makes it difficult to treat it effectively. In P. falciparum, histone acetyltransferase GCN5 (HAT: GCN5) has recently come to light as a crucial factor in the regulation of genes linked to artemisinin resistance and stress response. This study proposal sought to develop novel PfGCN5 inhibitors that would interfere with the gene regulatory functions of this protein and improve the effectiveness of malaria treatment. |
