International Geological Congress

International Geological Congress (IGC) is the prestigious global platform for advancement of Earth Science. Geological Survey of India is the Nodal agency for organizing the 36th edition of conference with active support of Indian National Science Academy (INSA) and the support of science academies of Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Organizing this event envisages support and cooperation from all geoscientific organizations, institutes and geoscientists of India and Indian sub-continent.

Training on Glacier Studies and Remote Sensing

The course contents of this training include the following: Distribution of Glaciers and snow cover, Climate, Morphology of glaciers, Transformation of snow to ice, Paleo glaciation, Distribution of temperature in glaciers, Flow and sliding of glaciers, Glacier Mass Balance, Ice and Snow ablation, Fundamentals of remote sensing, Optical properties of snow and ice, and Response of glaciers to climate change.

Environment Management

This course provides an overview of the key concepts and principles in environmental management, areas of global and national environmental concern, and strategies and tools for effective environmental management. Attempt to understand the genesis of environmental problems; the concerns that lead to various international and national initiatives to tackle them have been made in this course. Various tools, which can be used to address environmental problems and the role that the professionals can play in managing environment in their respective areas would be discussed.
