Breakthrough Prize

The Breakthrough Prizes honour immensely important, primarily recent, achievements in the categories of Fundamental Physics, Life Sciences and Mathematics. Committees of previous laureates choose the winners from candidates nominated in a process that?s online and open to the public. Laureates receive US$ 3 million each in prize money. They attend a televised award ceremony designed to celebrate their achievements and inspire the next generation of scientists. As part of the ceremony schedule, they also engage in a program of lectures and discussions.

International Travel by Non-ICMR Scientists

The Scheme provides financial assistance for presenting research paper or chairing a session as also delivering lectures in an international scientific event (Conference/ Seminar/ Symposia/ Workshops) to Non-ICMR Bio-medical Scientists. The theme of the event should be related to the thrust areas/ activities of ICMR. In addition, support is also provided to young scientists (age limit 35 years as on date of event), nurses and paramedical staff for attending training programmes and short- term Schools/ Workshops/ Courses on the basis of the priority areas already defined.

CTEP (Conference, Travel, Exhibition and Popular Lectures)

To popularise Biotechnology activities in India, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India provides financial assistance towards organizing Conference/ Seminar/ Symposium/ Workshop and Travel support to the researchers for presenting their papers in the conferences which are being organised outside the country. It also extends support for organising DBT stalls in Exhibitions held with in the country as well as outside the country. Financial supports are also provided for organising Popular Lectures.
