Description : | Mushroom is a nutritious food rich in protein, amino-acids, minerals, vitamin B12, vitamin D, folic acid, minerals and fibre. Also called as 'White vegetable', Mushroom is the fruiting body of fungus. It is considered ideal food for patients with hypertension, obesity and diabetics. Mushroom growing is relatively simple and can be taken up as individual home based activity or on small and large scale. Propagated through spawns, it can be cultivated in cool and humid climate. The cultivation is done on specially prepared compost made out of paddy straw and other agricultural wastes. There are two seasonal varieties. Winter varieties grow during the month of November to April and summer varieties can be cultivated in the month of June to August.
