Title:

Compact and Low-Cost Vertical Modular RO/NF/UF Systems for Defluoridation of Ground Water and Purification of Surface Water

Focus Area:

Water Treatmemt

Social Benefits:

The unit is flexible and is inter convertible from reverse osmosis to nanofiltration membrane system, Easy to use, robust and requires very less maintenance and portable in nature, Longer membrane life and lower fouling by impurities, Greater water recovery (80%) with low rejects volume. The reject water can be reused for washing water, laundry and other purposes, Retention of sufficient mineral content, Ca, Mg, P, Na, K essential for human consumption and health, The UV lamp incorporated disinfects the permeate water making the product water safe for human consumption, The taste of the water is enhanced by post treatment using granulated activated carbon filter whereas the provision made for TDS controller in permeate line remineralize the water by providing sufficient minerals.

Brief Description

Description :

The cost-effective moderate capacity RO/NF/UF plant is useful for the treatment of water containing high TDS, fluoride, suspended solids, hardness, turbidity and disease-causing microbes in a single step. The plant is very useful in the small hamlets and fluoride affected remote places . The operating cost in these plants is about Paise 3-5 per L of purified water generated. The design also has a feasibility to incorporate more than one membrane modules where in a single feed pump is sufficient to build the required feed pressure. Provides purified water for small habitats of 10 to 20 hamlets such as schools, colleges and hospitals.
