Description : | Structures like wing, horizontal andvertical tails, fuselage shells, controlSurfaces like rudder, elevator, aileron, flaps etc. developed forLCA-Tejas and SARAS aircrafts.Parts developed for LCA haveentered Series Production.
Salient Technical Features
Autoclave processing of prepregsis a well-established technologyin the aircraft industry. It offersexcellent reliability and part qualitymandated for airworthy parts. Thistechnique remains a benchmarkfor competing processes. Partswith fiber loading of 58-60% andvoid content less than 1% can beproduced using this technology. CSIR-NAL has developed cocuringtechnology indigenously to realizehighly integral structures foraircraft programs. The primarybenefits of co-curing are reductionin part count, elimination offasteners, reduced assembly andassociated costs and elimination ofstress concentration zones due tofastener holes, elimination of fuelleakage etc. The total structure isrealized in shorter time comparedto the traditional fastened structure. More than fifteen LCA aircraftshave taken to skies with compositestructures manufactured atCSIR-NAL and extensive flighttesting has been done withcomposite parts performingexcellently. Some of the structures developedhave won prestigious awards ininternational forums like JEC Asiainnovation awards in 2013, 2015and 2016. |
