IN287368: A process for strengthening of iron bearing pellets for charging in basic oxygen steel making furnace

The process of the invention for strengthening of iron bearing pellets for charging in basic oxygen steel making furnace (BOF), emphasizes on the use of iron bearing waste materials, such as iron ore fines, blue dust or sludge from steel plant mixed with fluxing material, such as lime fines in the form of pellets. These self fluxed pellets are expected to help in faster slag formation and improve refining speed when used as a feed material to the BOF steel making. No attempt has so far been made to use fluxed iron bearing pellets in BOF steel making. The invention provides a process for pellet strengthening without addition of binder or firing.
