The invention relates to an improved domestic size solar oven for multiple household applications such as cooking, for drying fruits and vegetables, heating water, roasting pea nuts without using conventional frying pans and sand, and for other heating applications for home based industries. The improved solar oven is having a slant solar preheating chamber connected to a main horizontal solar heating chamber both of which have appropriately inclined mirrors attached on their sides whose effective heating volume of the main horizontal solar heating chamber can be varied for different heating needs with appropriately designed heating trays which can be placed in the multiple parallel slide ways in the heating chamber. The preheating section with a 30-degree depression from the horizontal plane catches radiation from low altitude sun more effectively and improves heating in main horizontal solar heating chamber during early forenoon and late afternoon. The improved solar oven has simple hot air seals made of stitched thick cotton tape for the double glazed windows, door, and cooking tray of the main heating chamber. Use of segmented Q glazing joined by glued thick stitched cotton tape using silicone or its equivalent sealants allows for constructing larger size solar ovens without the risk of thermal 2 cracking of the inside glazing as is the case with the use of larger window type glass f— sheet for oven applications.
