IN329197: A process for the recovery of potash from feldspar with simultaneous recovery of ferrosilicon

The invention provides a process for the recovery of potash through volatilization during the smelting of potash feldspar in the presence of an iron source with the simultaneous production of ferrosilicon. The process does not require fine grinding of hard feldspar, which is mandatory for any hydrometallurgical/fuming process. Potash from the volatile fumes can be condensed in the form of dust by using a properly designed scrubbing system.
