IN344266: A process for the preparation of bio-based lubricants from chemoenzymatically synthesized epoxides of vegetable oil

The invention describes an efficient process for the synthesis of bio-based lubricants from vegetable oilsusing reusable Candida rugosa lipase immobilized on Immobead as catalyst in conjunction with an economically viable and easy to prepare nickel  nanocatalyst. The said catalyst system takes relatively less time than conventionally used Prilezhaev method for the synthesis of  epoxides based lubricants. The method is particularly advantageous because it adopts an efficient green technique which allows the  production of Castor-oil based bio-lubricants with less material purification making the process cost effective.
