IN363285: A noval process for making Advanced Tailored Hybrid Material (ATHM) utilizing glass fiber reinforced plastic waste and geopolymeric matrix, useful for broad application spectrum

The Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (GFRP) is a well established material for engineering applications. The disposal of GFRP is of serious concern as it contains glass fiber. The glass fiber can be used as raw material for making geopolymeric materials, since the glass content of GFRP waste reacts with alkali content of Geopolymeric system and rendered the toxic glass fiber into nontoxic material and additionally imparting engineering properties to the hybrid materials made using GFRP and geopolymeric system. Development of geopolymer polymeric composite materials. Since GFRP contains both glass fiber as well as polymeric compounds, it is possible to harness the unique features of both the technology namely TGFRP and Geopolymeric system to develop hybrid material. In view of above a novel process for making advanced tailored hybrid material (ATHM) utilizing glass fiber reinforced plastic waste and geopolymeric matrix, useful for broad application spectrum has been developed. The use of Advanced Tailored Hybrid Material (ATHM) utilizing glass fiber reinforced plastic waste and geopolymeric matrix, lie in the areas of aerospace, automotive, marine and construction industries.
