Message: Do not let your gender limit your thinking, aspirations, and desire to pursue STEM. Half the world’s population is female. Let us work towards creating gender balance in STEM as well. This requires a change in mindset at various levels across age groups. Let us be the change we want to see.
Urbasi Sinha works in the emerging and vibrant field of quantum science and technologies. Her specific current interest is in the domain of photonic quantum technologies. Having done her Ph.D. in superconducting devices, she also has a wide breadth of knowledge and expertise in solid-state quantum devices.
Quantum science and technologies are poised to revolutionize both computing as well as data security, among myriad other potential domains. Prof. Sinha’s Quantum Information and Computing lab at RRI Bengaluru is the first lab in India dedicated to working on photonic quantum science and technologies, including quantum computing and secure quantum communications. She is heading many research projects in these domains, funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Indian Space Research Organisation, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and international organizations like the John Templeton Foundation.
