Executive Summary :

Nanozymes, artificial enzymes with nanomaterials and natural functions, have potential in industrial and biomedical applications. However, their selectivity and specificity are still limited. To address these challenges, the research focuses on using metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and their pores to enhance reaction selectivity, specificity, and single enzyme mimetic activity. MOFs offer unique advantages in altering topology, pore size, and surface area. The proposed approach involves designing a bioinspired framework that mimics specific enzymes like oxidase, peroxidase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase GPx, and cytochrome c oxidase. Functionalizing MOF pores with suitable ligands and metal active centers will help understand the mechanism of selectivity in nanozymes. The toxicity of nanozymes will be evaluated using standard protocols for ROS detection, DNA damage, and protein oxidation.
