Executive Summary : | Free-fusion is a technique used in scientific communications and classroom teaching to demonstrate binocular vision phenomena. However, it is not innate to all observers. Only a small percentage of optometry students with normal binocular vision can successfully perform this task. The task involves producing dissimilar amounts of accommodation and vergence to maintain clear vision. This task can cause visual discomfort and fatigue. The study aims to investigate the proportion of visually normal adults who can free-fuse targets for cyclopean viewing experiences, the impact of visual training and practice, and the theoretical framework of accommodation-vergence interaction. This study aims to investigate the effect of binocular vision on cyclopean viewing. A prospective cross-sectional study with convenient sampling will be conducted, followed by a longitudinal study with targeted sampling. Participants will be recruited from the L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, and undergo a comprehensive eye examination and binocular vision examination. The study will measure the proportion of subjects who successfully completed the identification task for different target types, time taken to complete the task, and the visual discomfort questionnaire. |
