Executive Summary :

In this project, it is proposed that the output IDF information for notheast India will be coverted to improved and spatially distributed (at the pixel or elevation band level representation of IDF curves from the point representation. This will also include the IDF curves for the major cities and sites of selected water and infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya and Assam, An appraisal is expected on the dependence of extreme rainfall on the other climatic parameters, rainfall intensity quantiles will be estimated incorporating the non-stationarity in the rainfall series, in a changing climate. Finally, a web-based IDF toll will be developed for northeast India, which will be helpful for designing urban infrastructure and flood management schemes.
