Executive Summary :

Dynamics and Control of Breath Figures for Water Harvesting (Dac of BreaF for WH) aims to shed light on a new method of water harvesting. It is known that the water cycle includes a set of relevant complex mechanisms that can affect climate. The proposal experimentally focuses on the basic phenomena of vapor-liquid water first order phase transition, which implies heat transfer, and as well as recovery of liquid water. Both are assets to climate change mitigation: to reduce (global) warming, and to increase quality and quantity of drinking water, and for agriculture. Two complementary points of view will be considered. On the one hand, to increase heterogeneous condensation (breath figures, BF) in the laboratory under controlled conditions. This will be done by increasing nucleation sites density, by increasing the growth rate or by increasing coalescence. On the other hand, to include the effect of oceans, a model scale in the laboratory will be done and to try to understand the global dynamics and then compare to field experiments. Both combined points of view will allow to propose optimal actions related climate change. The role of controlled convection on growth dynamics of breath figures will leads to controlled soft lithography.
