STARS (Scheme for Transformational and Advanced Research in Sciences)

Scheme for Transformational and Advanced Research in Sciences (STARS) is an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, aims for promoting translational, India-centric research in Sciences, to be implemented, monitored and managed by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. With the key objective of supporting socially relevant research, the following 6 basic thrust domains have been identified: Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Nanosciences, Data Sciences & Mathematics and Earth Sciences.

Eligibility: Permanent faculty members from Higher Educational institutions viz., the MHRD-funded technical institutes (IISc, IITs, IISERs, NITs) and Central Universities; and Non-MHRD funded Institutions with NIRF ranking within 100 (overall category) or NAAC 3.26 and above (colleges or universities).
