Executive Summary :

The rapid economic growth in Asian developing countries, including India, has led to the degradation of natural resource bases, posing environmental problems and management issues. New technologies like Remote Sensing, Geographic Information Systems GIS, and Global Positioning Systems GPS can help in resource planning and management. However, the scarcity of trained personnel and costly hardware and software hinder their full potential. The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted organizations to use technology to create innovative approaches for community resilience. Punjab Engineering College Deemed to be university proposes a Three-day Geo Innovation Challenge to stimulate sustainable economic growth, socio-economic development, and youth empowerment using geospatial technologies. The challenge aims to empower participants with fundamental understanding of geospatial technology, improve exposure to potential applications, and promote wide dissemination of technology. The challenge will also focus on using open-source software for rural/urban landscapes, guiding local responses to the pandemic, and utilizing spatial artificial intelligence techniques for public health or humanitarian mapping.
