Executive Summary : | The increasing use of converter interfaced renewable power plants (CIRPPs), particularly solar and wind, is posing challenges to power system protection. Up to 2030, India is expected to meet its 50% power demand with CIRPPs. Faults in lines connecting these sources to conventional grids present protection complexities due to control strategies adopted by power electronic components. series-compensation is used to enhance transmission capacity, but accurate estimation of line parameters is crucial. Existing schemes have not developed self- and mutual zero-sequence impedances for double-circuit series compensated lines using fault record data. The developed schemes will address the effects of fault resistances and synchronization errors, and will be investigated for Indian electrical grid or standard IEEE power system benchmarks. |
