Executive Summary :

This project focuses on the development of chemomechanical magnetorheological abrasive finishing (CMMRAF) process with microwave energy processed magnetic abrasives which is firstly proposed (First Major Research Objective). It is expected that the new magnetic abrasives have increased surface finishing capabilities, higher material removal rates, and the ability to achieve surface finishes down to the nano-scale with almost zero surface defects. Mesh size of abrasive particles, MR fluid, magnetic field in machining zone, chemicals, rotational speed, reciprocating speed, finishing time, flow rate of MR fluid, working gap, pH value and extrusion pressure will have focused to study the performance of the developed CMMRAF process (Second Major Research Objective) in terms of surface roughness (Ra, Rt value) before and after finishing, finishing rate, and geometrical accuracy.
