Executive Summary :

Objective: Development and validation of close-loop pilot scale process for the recycling of various electronic wastes (e-waste) based on zero waste concept, Setting up of the pilot plant for scale-up the technology, Creation of alternative metal resources, Conservation of primary resources and energy saving, Creation of feasible and environmental technologies.

Summary: During this project an integrated closed loop pilot plant will be set-up for the scaling up of developed technologies for e-waste. Based on the developed scale up plant trial at CSIR-NML, close loop process for the recovery of marketable metals and materials from e-waste will be carried out. Individual/ hybrid techniques viz. pyrolysis/ chemical pre-treatment for the beneficiation of e-waste followed by leaching and recovery of metals viz. Cu, Ni, Zn, Al, Au, Ag, Pt, Pd, Nd, Co, Li, Mn, etc. using hydrometallurgical processes viz. solvent extraction, ion-exchange, cementation, precipitation, electrolysis/ electrowinning, etc. will further be carried out to get salts/ metals and other valuable by-products.
