Executive Summary : | Objective: Validate the treatments to control the Internal Browning development in pineapple;
Development of export protocol for sea transport of pineapples Summary: India is the fifth largest pineapple producing country in the world, however, its export is limited (28th position) due to Internal browning (IB) disorder. IB develops when the fruit is exposed to low temperature during growth or storage, and is characterized by the formation of translucent, water-soaked spots at the base of the fruitlets, which later turns black. At present, there is no effective method to control IB in pineapple, which limits its prolonged storage and export by sea transport. |
