Executive Summary :

LEDs are energy-efficient and rapidly developing lighting technologies, but current methods require high temperature and vacuum-based techniques, increasing fabrication and equipment costs. Solution-processed metal halide perovskites with a general chemical formula ABX3 are emerging as a new generation of semiconductors for low-cost and high-performance LEDs. The external quantum efficiency (EQE) of perovskite LEDs (PeLEDs) has reached over 22% for green and red emissions within seven years, making them attractive for cost-effective future lighting and display. However, the development of blue PeLEDs, essential for color display and solid-state lighting, lags behind their counterparts due to poor colour stability. The aim is to improve the colour stability of blue emission by designing new quasi-2D perovskite materials with a new combination of cations. The researchers will employ suitable metal doping for perovskite film modification to enhance optoelectronic properties. They aim to fabricate efficient blue PeLED based on optimized perovskite films using suitable charge transport layers (CTLs) and related device physics. To improve the colour stability of blue emission, the researchers will design new quasi-2D perovskite materials with a general chemical formula (L*L)2Csn-1PbnBr3n+1, where *L is a combination of R-DABr2 and L is a long chain ligand cation. Techniques such as XRD, UV-Vis and PL spectrometer, TRPL, PLQY, FESEM, and AFM will be used to characterize the new materials.
