Executive Summary :

Open source geospatial technologies are advancing and becoming at par with closed one. Routine geospatial tasks are easily accomplished in open source geospatial software. These Open source softwares cover the spectrum of tools command-line data conversion, spatially aware enterprise databases, internet mapping applications, desktop Geographic Information System GIS applications, geo-processing libraries, and more. Thus, these software may be used effectively in training, research and integration of geospatial technologies in organizational workflow. Availability of spatial remotely sensed data, thematic and environmental information derived from the data in data form for visualization on portal or through Web GIS services has increased enormously. Open geospatial technologies based interfaces to hydrological models have also evolved, but are not available for all open source/free software. For some of the software, input may be derived using open geospatial technologies. Gridded high temporal hydro-meteorological data are available, which require specialized processing to integrate them in workflow. There is a need to orient and make aware the officers as well as the researchers in the state and central government and faculty at educational institutions, not- to- profit organizations etc. in these technologies, online data sources and hydrological models with leading to capacity building for effective utilization of these technologies. Moreover, encourage and nurture among the youth of our country through Geo Innovation Challenge
