Executive Summary :

Objective: To develop 3-D crustal state of stresses and deformations to understand the mechanism of earthquake occurrence process in the Koyna-Warna region. b) Various algorithms developed to calculate stresses pore pressure and fault stability are the most up to date and no such programs/software/codes are available. These algorithms have been applied to explain various cases of reservoir triggered earthquakes. It has also been applied to explain aftershocks phenomenon arising due to poro-elastic relaxation of various earthquakes. These all programs are written in FORTRAN and are not user's friendly so cannot be used by anybody else except the developer. In the project these computer codes will be made user friendly and interactive software which will be released through NGRI. This will increase the visibility of the institute. c) To develop entropy-based models (1) demarcating the pathways of conduit-mediums for the groundwater flow, (2) segregating the responses on well hydrographs due to the natural recharge and impact of the Koyna – Warna reservoirs, and (3) Forecasting of groundwater levels using ANN technique.
