Executive Summary : | The project aims to achieve UN Sustainable Development goals, EC directives, and India Government guidelines, contributing to India's second-largest textile trade and Portugal's national manufacturing industry. The project involves an interdependent combination of scientific/technical tasks, with the Indian IITM and Portuguese UC teams working together to provide relevant and innovative solutions. The project will focus on textile dyeing wastewater from industries in Surat Gujarat, Chennai, and Erode Tamilnadu, India, with a focus on real and synthetic effluents. The project aims to reduce costs and guarantee circularity of the re-dyeing ABS-based platform. The project focuses on characterization of textile dyeing effluents, understanding the impact of textile wastewater on ABS phase equilibria, applying more efficient, milder, and ecofriendly extraction platforms using biodegradable ionic liquids, salts, and polymers, using ABS in an integrated and circular mode, and assessing the long-term sustainability of the proposed technology through techno-economic and life cycle analysis (LCA). |
