Executive Summary : | The researchers have conducted a study on dipolar and multipolar interactions in assembled molecules and nanostructures, resulting in 24 publications. They propose to use the electric field generated by assembled plasmonic nanostructures and coherence in engineered molecular assemblies for applications in photovoltaics. Nanoscale plasmonic objects have the unique ability to squeeze light to subwavelength volume, generating an intense electric field that can efficiently couple with molecules and quantum dots. This approach enhances the efficiencies of light-mediated processes in assembled molecules and improves the performance of optoelectronic devices like solar cells. The researchers propose to investigate the photophysics of quantum dots and organic fluorophores in the presence of a plasmonic field to understand the contributions of electron and energy transfer processes and enhance their emission characteristics. They also aim to create plasmonic nanoparticle-semiconductor junctions to enhance electronic coupling between generated hot electrons on metal surfaces and electron-accepting levels of a semiconductor. The researchers plan to conduct extensive electrochemical analysis of the designed systems for fabricating optoelectronic devices, extending the fundamental insights gained to practical applications in photovoltaics. |
