Executive Summary : | The project aims to organize an awareness camp on science communication, organize a science exhibition, and raise awareness about government schemes in Jammu, the winter capital of the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The project will involve a six-month duration from July 2022 to December 2022, with a total cost of 0 Lakhs for recurring costs and 0 Lakhs for non-recurring capital costs.
Jammu is the largest city in the district and is known for its ancient temples and Hindu shrines. The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, an autonomous body under the government of Jammu and Kashmir, is responsible for affiliating over 10200 schools across the state and employing 22856 teachers. A survey conducted in government schools revealed that students in government schools want to learn science and explore new inventions and avenues in science.
The current workshop aims to educate students about science outreach and communication. A total of 2000 direct beneficiaries will attend five workshops in different areas of Jammu, while 10,000 indirect beneficiaries will participate. The approach involves meeting with local community leaders/sarpanch, finalizing dates and venues, inviting experts, and organizing the camp. The project will also focus on women empowerment, rural camps on communicable diseases, and science communication in rural schools. Activities related to the workshop will be managed by various individuals, including the principal investigator, project associate, branding and publicity, principal investigator and project associate, transportations, project associate field worker, hospitality and arranging interactions, and field worker feedback.
A rigorous tracking system will be deployed to collect input from each phase of the camp, with participants, experts, and school heads receiving input on the details of the workshop. The input report will be shared with NCSTC. |
