Executive Summary :

The Institute for Climate Change Studies, Kottayam ICCS is an autonomous RD Centre under the Department of Science and Technology, Govt of Kerala, focusing on research on the impacts of climate change on various sectors and zones. The institute has expanded its research to include synoptic and regional weather patterns causing extreme events in projected climate change. In 2016, a Climate Change Knowledge Cell was established, but the recent increase in extreme weather has led to an unprecedented scenario. The proposal aims to strengthen the research and analysis capabilities of the existing Climate Change Knowledge Cell, develop tools for real-time monitoring of hazardous extreme weather and climate events, create a data base, generate policy-relevant assessments, develop multi-hazard impact models, improve communication strategies, upgrade the website, train stakeholders, and establish a research network.
