Executive Summary :

The field of hydrodynamic stability of mixed convection flows in vertical ducts/channels filled with porous medium has garnered a lot of attention from the researchers in recent years. The stability analysis of this ow is very important to understand so that the industry can design their equipment in a more efficient way. Porous medium has many heat transfer applications because due to the presence of interconnected voids it has large surface area to volume fraction which makes them suitable candidates for heat transfer enhancement applications, for example in electronic industry. One such important example of a porous medium is metal foam (aluminium, etc.). It has wide applications in electronic industry, heat exchangers, energy absorption, etc due to its desirable ow and thermal characteristics. Mixed convection in ducts (commonly channel, pipe and annulus) fi?lled with porous medium is relevant in many engineering systems such as geothermal systems, building thermal insulation, nuclear waste disposal, thermal energy storage, transportation biofuels, etc.
