Details
Executive Summary : | The project aims to study the Venusian atmosphere using data from Radio Occultation experiments flown on past and current missions to Venus and to be flown on the future Indian mission. The Indian group, within ISRO, is developing the Radio Occultation RO experiment, which will be flown on India's first mission to Venus. A long-term collaboration with the German team is being established to develop the experiment, retrieve and process data, and deriving meaningful science from it. The data will be used to address science objectives such as H2SO4-H2O cloud formation and global sulfur cycle, the characteristics of the Venusian atmosphere and ionosphere, and characterize low-amplitude gravity waves and atmospheric wave activity. The research will also investigate the layered structure and composition of Venus clouds, the ionosphere, and the variability of the Venusian ionosphere coupled to the neutral atmosphere. The study will also characterize gravity waves and study instabilities in the cloud layer. |
