Executive Summary : | To improve novel and harmless natural larvicides and adulticides against dengue mosquito vector. The selected plant material (J. adhatoda, A. salvifolium and T. chebula) was generally existing in enormous quantities in Asian countries especially more in Indian sub-continent. Similarly, it was cost effective for preparation comparable to the other synthetic pesticides. In addition, plant derivatives are generally more biodegradable and ecofriendly, if compared to commercially available insecticides and also minimize the risk of resistance development in vector populations. In a nutshell, in addition to their ethnopharmacological value, J. adhatoda may also serve as a natural larvicidal agent against Ae. aegypti due to its availability, cost effectiveness, ecofriendliness and non-toxicity against non-target species. |
