Executive Summary : | This study aims to compare the morphological and biochemical responses of two traditional rice varieties, Korgut and IR64, under salt stress. The rice varieties will be subjected to varying salt stress concentrations and analyzed for phenotype, morphological, and biochemical parameters. Morphological parameters will be studied, and biochemical studies will be conducted to determine nutrient and oxidative damage, photosynthetic efficiency, antioxidant enzyme activity, osmolyte content, and secondary metabolite analysis. The study also aims to study salt-responsive genes in other rice varieties under salt stress. The study aims to sequence and analyze the transcriptome of salt-tolerant rice Korgut and salt-sensitive rice IR64 under salt treatment. RNA extraction, library preparation, and sequencing will be performed using standard bioinformatic tools. Transcriptome analysis will be performed using FASTQC, NGS QC, or FASTP. The study will also study salt-responsive genes in other traditional rice varieties under salt stress. The results will provide a list of candidate genes involved in imparting salt stress tolerance in Korgut and reveal morphological and biochemical responses. The data can be used in breeding programs to improve salt tolerance in rice varieties. |
