Executive Summary : | The fast development of nanoscience and nanotechnology has significantly advanced the fabrication of nanocatalysts and the in-depth study of the structural-activity characteristics of materials at the atomic level. Recently, doping of foreign atoms and creating defects in nano electrocatalyst has been regarded as effective approach for improving its electrocatalytic activity. Both doping of foreign atoms and creating defect (typical atomic defects or imperfections) are demonstrated to effectively modulate the physicochemical, electronic and catalytic properties of nanomaterials, which is a key concept and hot research topic in nano chemistry and nano catalysis. Especially anionic vacancies have shown up new avenues for the development of nonprecious electrocatalysts toward efficient energy conversion. Therefore, the present project focuses on doping and creating defects/vacancies in cost effective transition metal-based nano electrocatalyst (Oxides, sulfides, selenides of Fe doped Ni and Co metals) which could be useful for electrochemical water splitting application. |
