Brief Description

Description :

There is a great demand for premium varieties of Indian mangoes in several countries including the USA. Currently the mangoes are subjected to radiation treatment in accordance with USDA regulations before being exported to the USA by air. The share of Indian mangoes in the USA continues to be quite modest due to high air freight cost and volume restrictions due to limited air cargo, which have a negative impact on export revenues. Utilizing the sea route would substantially reduce costs and improve export volume, allowing wider market penetration. This technology provides a 'Standard Operating Procedure for processing Indian 'Kesar' mangoes for sea-route shipment to the USA. Through this technology, the shelf-life of processed 'Kesar' mango increases under specified condition of storage with retention of natural quality attributes.
