Description : | Saffron (Crocus sativus L.), the most expensive spice on earth belongs to family, Iridaceae. It is popularly known as the 'Golden Condiment' or the 'Red Gold'. The spice is highly prized for its aroma, flavour and colour and has tremendous commercial value in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industry. Although, saffron from Kashmir in India is considered to be of best quality, it accounts for only 3% of the global trade. |
