Courses by level
India’s numerous institutions of higher learning offer a wide range of courses at different levels. Diplomas are the short term course awarded by an educational establishment after successful completion of a course. Undergraduate (UG) education is the post-secondary education, previous to the postgraduate education. It includes all the academic programs up to the level of a bachelor's degree.
Postgraduate (PG) education involves academic or professional degrees, for which a bachelor's degree generally is required. The Master of Philosophy (M.Phil. or Ph.M.) is a postgraduate degree. It is an advanced research degree making it the most advanced research degree before the Doctor of Philosophy. It stands between a taught Master's and a Ph.D. A Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D. or D.Phil.) is the highest academic degree awarded by universities for programs across the whole breadth of academic fields. Sometimes, two or more levels of education are integrated, to be termed as integrated UG or integrated PG or integrated Ph.D.
