Women Transforming India was launched with the aim to celebrate the indomitable spirit of women working to empower communities and transform India. The award invites stories of exceptional women entrepreneurs, who are breaking the glass ceiling and challenging stereotypes through businesses, enterprises and initiatives that provide innovative solutions to address some key development challenges and to impacted lives of communities. Women Transforming India builds on the Government of India’s commitment to advance gender equality.

‘Nari Shakti Puraskar’ are conferred every year on the occasion of ‘International Women’s Day’ i.e. 8th March, by the Ministry of Women and Child Development for recognizing exceptional work done by individuals etc. in the area of empowerment of women.
